Matt Schnappauf

Matt Schnappauf is a U.S. Navy veteran and Head of Government Relations at Nominal, a venture-backed start-up delivering software to accelerate test and evaluation of critical hardware systems. Prior to Nominal, Matt served as a national security consultant at Cornerstone Government Affairs, a bipartisan consulting firm specializing in strategic advocacy and government relations. He is a champion for public policy that supports defense innovation and emerging technologies.
Matt also previously served as the Director of the Navy’s Liaison Office to the U.S. House of Representatives and the Navy’s Deputy Chief of Legislative Affairs. In that role, he developed the Navy’s strategic engagement plan in support of legislative priorities and was a key advisor to the Secretary of the Navy and Chief of Naval Operations.
Matt holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the U.S. Naval Academy and a master’s degree in national security and strategic studies from the U.S. Naval War College. He was the U.S. Navy Hudson Fellow to the University of Oxford during Academic Year 2015-2016.
